before you begin
〰️
before you begin 〰️
Pause for a moment.
Not metaphorically.
Actually pause.
Close your eyes.
Take one slow breath in through your nose.
Let it expand your ribs, your belly, your back.
And exhale slowly through your mouth.
Arrive here.
Self-tying is a beautiful practice because it teaches you to listen. There is no one else reading your signals. No one else adjusting tension. No one else checking circulation.
It is you listening to you. That is what makes it powerful and sacred.
You are both the one who binds and the one who is bound. You are the structure and the surrender.
Before you begin learning knots, ask yourself:
Why am I here?
Am I longing to feel held?
To explore surrender in solitude?
To reconnect with my body?
To feel sensuality without performance?
There is no right answer. Only intention.
Self-tie amplifies what is already within you.
If you enter disconnected, it will feel mechanical.
If you enter rushed, it will feel tight.
If you enter critical, it will feel frustrating.
If you enter present, it will feel intimate.
If you enter with care, it will feel nourishing.
The rope carries your state.
It reflects your breath.
Your pace.
Your nervous system.
So go slowly.
Let this practice be about awareness, not achievement.
About sensation, not performance.
About relationship, not perfection.
From here forward, you move consciously.
And that is where it begins.
